Abstract

Course Experience Questionnaires (CEQs) are an important tool for evaluating the quality of teaching and a routine practice in higher education. CEQs have been proven successful in capturing the students experience and in evaluating the quality of the education. However, questionnaires-based analysis also has some drawbacks. In this report, we analyze one of these potential drawbacks. Questionnaires that are handed in during the rst year of the students' life suer from the fact that students do not have the opportunity to compare the taken courses with future ones and to properly evaluate the workload. We took a course oered to rst-year students and compared the answers given during the rst year with answers obtained for the same course, after the students gained more experience. Indeed, as a result of our study, there seems not to be a mismatch between the answers given immediately after the end of the course and the ones given two years later. We concluded that changes in the students opinions are not statistically significant.
