Employers are required by the Swedish Discrimination Act to investigate risks of discrimination and obstacles to equal rights, and to take active preventive measures. Yet LGBTQ individuals often face discrimination at work. This article synthesizes findings from the research project “[anonymized],” highlighting that LGBTQ employees experience greater exposure to workplace risks, with negative effects on health and job satisfaction. Knowledge about LGBTQ working conditions varies among managers and HR staff, influencing what measures are deemed reasonable. Continued research and dialogue are essential for the Discrimination Act to have its intended impact.
