Abstract

Some claim that people work too little work in Sweden to compensate for the aging population, high immigration and youth staying long in education; the supply burden is simply getting heavier. Time worked is usually missing in these calculations. The entire population must be supported and this is done through hours worked. LFS data show that the total weekly work effort has risen, due to the increased number of employed. Counted on the entire population we annually find approximately 15 working weekly hours per capita. The essay also analyses the contributions by different age categories and by natives and foreign-born.
