Teori och empiri: analys av motstånd i ”Learning to labour”

I use Paul Willis’ (1977) classic book Learning to Labor as an illustrative example to illuminate the relationship between theory and empiricism and how Willis portrays resistance somewhat one-sidedly. I highlight the importance of transparency in the presentation of empirical evidence and illustrate the relationship between theory and empiricism in practice. By examining how Willis assigns meaning to empirical evidence in Learning to Labor, I argue that resistance is theoretically bound to the community because the youth’s act of resistance cannot be performed without the existence of the community.
