Abstract

What is the importance of digitalisation for job quality? This study of two manufacturing companies in Swedish aeronautics argue that it is dependent of management’s innovation strategies. One of the companies used digital technology to involve several categories of employees in common decision making on constructions and working instructions. This limited employees’ possibilities to take decisions about their own work and increased the work pace. The other company used digital technology to involve mainly one category of employees in more general questions, which meant exclusion and less scope for decisions on the own work for another category of employees.
