Abstract

All Ph.D. students and staff with a teaching role at LTH participate in academic development in the form of the pedagogical course “Teaching and learning in higher education”. The course has a short term aim of improving teachers’ decision making to benefit students’ learning and a long term aim of initiating further development of teachers (Faculty of Engineering LTH, 2015). In this report we investigate the perception of the course amongst former participants. A survey was designed to assess both the short term and long term course aims as well as the participants overall perception of the course and its usefulness. It was emailed to 214 previous course participants who had taken the course between May 2020 and May 2022 with a response rate of 48.6%. A clear majority of the survey respondents evaluated the course positively and reflected positively on the short and long term aims of the course as well as its overall usefulness.
