Submission Guidelines

Historisk Studenttidskrift publishes articles, essays, reviews, and opinion pieces by students and researchers at historical and related institutions in Sweden. All contributions that fit these genres are welcome, regardless of the author’s background.

By submitting material, you confirm to the editorial team that it has not been published previously, in whole or in part, and that it has not been submitted to another journal before a decision is made by the editorial team.

Submitting a Contribution

All submissions should be sent here. Authors can choose between three submission formats:

1. Idea Pitch

  • Specify text type: article, essay, review, or opinion piece.

  • Write a pitch (150–300 words): Describe the topic, research question, and the intended study’s relevance. Briefly explain why the idea is suitable for Historisk Studenttidskrift.

  • Note for reviews: The pitch does not need to be as detailed as for other text types. It is sufficient to provide the work’s title and a short explanation of why it is interesting to analyze or review.

2. Thesis Format with Idea Pitch

  • Submit a complete academic thesis or equivalent with a supporting idea pitch.

  • The pitch should clearly explain how the thesis could be developed into an article, essay, or similar text.

3. Completed Text

  • Submit a finished article, essay, review, or opinion piece following the formal guidelines below.

The Publication Process

  1. Submit a draft in the desired format and indicate the type of text.

  2. The editorial team reviews the submission and provides a preliminary decision and suggested revisions.

    • If accepted, the author will be assigned a chief editor and an assistant editor to support the revision process.

  3. The author revises the text and submits the final version.

  4. The chief editor provides the final decision on publication.
