Technology development and work environment legal regulation

Abstract

Implementation of advanced technology in companies places demands on employees’ adaptability. Legal regulation should support transition processes so that a good working environment is achieved. The work environment is of significant importance for how long people can or are willing to work. The article contains the results of an empirical study on how the legal regulations related to work environment function in practice when a company implements advanced technology which gets consequences for the employees’ work environment. The study reports legal regulations related to work environment that was brought up in the interviews. The legal regulation was evaluated from the perspective of legal certainty, if it hamper or support transition processes and follows the change advanced technological development entails.
