Based on thirty-three interviews with assistant nurses, nurses, and medical doctors the effects of the coronavirus for work in the health care sector in Sweden is analyzed. The results show that the work situation is fundamentally changed, which includes relationships with patients (hygiene, care planning), relatives (contact) and colleagues between (staff planning, communication). In parallel, the work is described as continuing as usual in relation to patients (hygiene, close care, medication). Based on a discussion about organizational context as well as work intensification and flexibility, the analysis contributes an understanding of the dynamics between continuity and change in everyday work.
