Gifta mödrars vara eller inte vara på arbetsmarknaden i det sena 1960-talets Sverige

Using previously untapped data from the late 1960s, the study examines Swedish women’s attitudes toward married mothers’ employment at the end of the housewife era. The relationship between attitudes and paid work is also analyzed. The results show attitudes to vary by educational level: women with higher educational levels are more positive toward paid work of married mothers. These women also have a greater opportunity to let their attitudes govern their own choices, while the choices for women with a lower level of education to a greater extent appear to be governed by socio-economic and demographic factors.
