The purpose of this qualitative study was to gain a deeper understanding of the tasks and work situation of Norwegian early childhood center leaders. The article has examined what triggers stress in daily work and what coping strategies center leaders use to reduce daily stress. The analysis shows that center leaders experience stressors related to organization and work tasks, roles and expectations. Center leaders use a combination of coping strategies to reduce daily stress, but the total amount of work identified shows that there is a need to develop initiatives that can support managers in coping with work-related stress.
