Abstract

This essay discusses how labor has been visualized and presented in art, literature and music. The text provides examples from the past, the present and the future. Two themes are identified: how aesthetic expressions represent cultural and political ideas related to work; and the relationship between work and life, where we can see how these spheres merge and where one is differentiated from the other only through their commercialization.
