Abstract

In Norway, the #metoo campaign was dominated by middle class occupations while working class occupations did not have their own #metoo movement. This article highlight questions about employee experiences with sexual harassment and how cases are followed up in parts of the health and service sector. A main conclusion is that sexual harassment in many ways is a silent problem that is given little attention in these industries, although the prevalence is large. This article is based on a survey of employees in hotel and restaurant and health and care sector in Norway autumn 2016 – before the #metoo campaign started.
