Abstract

The lecture aims to demonstrate a certain development in the Swedish practice of pastoral care in the past century. The previous definition of pastoral care specified that the priest should “preach the Word of God to the individual”. In the 1920's, however, this view was came to be gradually replaced by another view, developed in American churches, according to which the priest should “listen to the living human document”.
