Abstract

Different assessment methods are used at
the Faculty of Engineering of Lund University (LTH)
in order to evaluate the knowledge of the students.
However, grades are commonly given depending on the
performance of the student on a written exam, thus most
of the students prioritize this form of assessment over
all others. In this context the presented paper aims to
compare the point of view of both teachers and students
regarding the importance of written exams and home
assignments both in terms of grades and contribution
to the learning process. To this end, a survey is carried
out among members of the faculty and the results are
presented and discussed in the paper. Conclusions and
recommendations are extracted and further improvements
are suggested.
