Skall vi förvänta en religionens förnyelse?
AbstractIn the recent decades, the possibility of a renewal of religion has been a recurring question. Three instances of this debate are being treated in the current essay: the renewal of the religion of the cross that Söderblom ex-pected after World War I, the short-lived increase of interest in religion in Germany after World War II, and the worldwide surge of fundamentalism in recent times. Taking his stand with Söderblom’s understanding of religion as the experience of being personally seized by the Holy, the author is skeptical of religious mass movements and pleads for the former’s functioning as a leaven in God’s ongoing work of renewal.
