Designing Presentation Slides that accommodate Different Learning Styles
Abstract
Everyone is different. This is especially true when it comes to learning. With our many senses andpersonalities we all receive and process information in different ways. A common tool used for presenting
information and teaching is that of the presentation slide as used in software packages such as
Microsoft’s Powerpoint, Apple’s Keynote, OpenOffice Impress, etc. In this report we will look at some
of the common axes of different learning styles and consider how teachers can make better presentation
slides. We will look at three learning style models and discuss the common types of learning styles
between the models. Then we will look at a series of slides and analyse them from the perspective of
different learning styles. This will lead to some general guidelines about the best way to make slides
that address different learning styles.
