A study on student participation in supplementary instruction and seminar sessions at the departments of Mathematics, Medical Radiation Physics, and Geology at Lund University. The goal was to analyze the factors influencing student participation rates at these sessions, as there exists a clear correlation between the rate of students attending these sessions and the pass rate of the corresponding courses.
We found bonus points for the exams to be the main motivator to enhance student participation in these active learning sessions, while time constraints were the main reason for students not attending these sessions.
