Abstract

In order to have a successful problem based learning (PBL), method group dynamics is a key
issue. The progress of the work and learning in PBL is strongly influenced by the interaction
and active participation of the individuals in the study group. This participation may be
influenced by many factors such as cultural differences, language, academic background and
levels of engagement. Therefore, knowledge on how to handle and influence group interaction
is very important for the success of the teaching method providing, at the same time, tools for
a successful accomplishment of the learning goals. This assay will address a few aspects of
this complex problem based on documented experience on the subject.
