Communication between Educational and Industrial Enterprises: Industrial PhD Students, the Missing Link

Abstract

Academia and industry have different ways of communication, whether it is through collaborations or any other form of exchange of knowledge. Lately, another form of communication is gaining more and more popularity in the industrial field. This communication is in the form of industrial PhD students that is considered an effective method of acquiring knowledge with great relevance to the interests of the industries. In order to investigate the aspects of this communication, interview-based inquiry was implemented. Reflections based upon adult learning theory and active learning are drawn out and listed. Industrial PhD-students are an effective way for companies to gain high quality knowledge that is well focused on the target the company is trying to achieve.
