Abstract

We will not discuss all the possible problems international students can have while living
in a foreign country (home sickness, difficulties to adjust to the climate, food culture etc).
We aim to discuss several common problem areas related to international students in the
academic environment. In order to get some idea about the problems faced by
international students in Sweden, we asked some of the participants of our course to
name the main problems they faced being international students here. We use the results
from our little questionnaire as examples illustrating different problem areas. We also
aim to provide some simple solutions and tips for teachers so they can help to avoid and
solve any problems faced by international students in order to make their studying abroad
pleasant and effective.
