How to engage and make the students more active in a course in Biomechanics using digital resources

Abstract

The main problem is that the student group is heterogeneous, they have a big variety
in knowledge both in mechanics and in anatomy/physiology. They come from
different engineering programs at LTH and have taken different courses in mechanics.
The course also recruits international students and the variation in mechanical
knowledge among them is quite big. On top of that some of the students have taken
some course in anatomy but most of them have very limited pre-knowledge in that
field. But this problem is going to increase in some years due to the newly started
education in Biomedical Engineering.

The clue is to make the students more active during the course without increasing the
workload for the teacher. When to make them more active you have to keep the
heterogeneity of the student group in mind and find out tasks that can be interesting
for all of them. The hope is to involve digital resources and there will probably also be
possibility to use PhD-students in the teaching. The teaching must then be split in a
smart way.
