Abstract

Teachers are expected to aim for excellent teaching skills and the student on the other hand are
expected to pass their exams preferably with high grads. But not all students pass their exams
with high grads and some students don’t even pass at all. Is a good teacher in a course which has
a high quality, enough for students to pass it? Many students fail their exam due to various
reasons despite the teachers equipped with excellent teaching skills. These so called ‘nonacademic’
reasons might be out the teachers’ control, meaning they originate out of the class
room. This project report proposes solutions to improving the pass rate of students without
compromising the quality of teaching. Our target students with low performance in class come
with a problem of non-academic character, which means that the teacher’s teaching strategy can
be both excellent and still unable to help students out of these ‘non-academic’ problems.
