Abstract

The book Research in applied linguistics and language education: Design, methods and analysis authored by Teodora Popescu focuses on research methodology in applied linguistics and language education. It was designed for MA students, PhD students and early-career researchers who are striving to craft a career in applied linguistics and language education. The book provides the readers with a coherent overview of methods, approaches and theories pertaining to applied linguistics and language education. Conceived in a very systematic and user-friendly manner, the book guides the users throughout the entire research process.

Maria-Crina Herțeg is Associate Professor at 1 Decembrie 1918 University of Alba Iulia, Faculty of History, Letters and Educational Sciences where she teaches courses in Business English, Terminology, Corpus linguistics, Business translation and ESP.

Her research areas are clustered around the fields of Terminology, Business English, CMT, ESP, Corpus linguistics, Business translation. She has authored papers on these topics and has delivered presentations in national and international conferences. Dr. Herțeg has co-edited books with international publishers, together with Maria-Ionela Neagu she co-edited Semiotic Approaches to Cultural Interactions. Images and Texts, published with Peter Lang in 2025.

Dr. Herțeg is a member of the editorial board of The Journal of Linguistic and Intercultural Education – JoLIE, the yearly publication of the Centre for Research and Innovation in Linguistic Education (CIEL).
