The correspondence of Sextil Pușcariu with Alf Lombard
Abstract
This paper presents the correspondence between the Romanian linguist S. Puşcariu, the founder of “the linguistic school of Cluj”, and the Swedish Romanist Alf Lombard, who dedicated a great part of his energy and work to the study of the Romanian language, becoming one of the best known specialists in Romanian. There have been preserved eleven letters sent by Pușcariu and twelve letters sent by Alf Lombard (between 1935 and 1947). They offer interesting information for the history of linguistics, about their scientific activity and about the political situation in Transylvania during the WWII.
