Abstract

Pedagogical techniques used in education, obviously, should be adopted to a
specific targeting group. In literature there are many discussions related to
applying one or another technique, e.g. Kolb learning cycle [1], for different
students. However, the analysis of these differences is mostly lying in the
direction of different students attitude to the process of learning, see, for
example [2], [3]. Student’s motivation is a very important factor for learning,
and it plays an essential role in studying.
The role of the subject itself in the process of learning is much less discussed
in pedagogical literature. However, different subjects require quite different
percentage of memorizing of facts, abstract thinking, individual work
etc. Thus, we can expect some corrections to the conclusions obtained for a
group of students, studying natural science subject, and e.g. social science
subject.
A high level of intercommunications between students is obviously an
advantage. Students can communicate with persons with similar level of
knowledge and experience, and so, can resolve problems in more efficient
way. A side effect of the interaction between students - a work load for the
teacher is decreased, what might be really important issue for large groups.
During the last decade, it were many attempts to develop on-line tools to
be used for memorizing, or more complicated learning. Usage of these tools,
in addition to traditional person-to-person communications (student-teacher,
and student-student) is an advantage [4].
It is possible to distinguish two main types of such tools in terms of communications:
1) person-to-AI, the software simulates a teacher, or examiner
using Artificial Intelligence approach, 2) ’vicarious’, or surrogate person-toperson,
there software is used to organize communication on forums, billboards,
social networks, etc.
In this work I will analyze a possibility to use on-line techniques in order
to improve teaching in a class, studying a subject in the field of the natural
science.
