Abstract

We reflect on and discuss the use of laboratory reports as a
pedagogical tool considering that they are the main examination form of
laboratory exercises at the physics department at Lund University. This
report is based on reflections of the authors laboratory teaching experience
in the STEM-fields. The laboratory report is analyzed from three
perspectives, how the teacher can prepare before the course, how to proceed
when assigning the task to the student and how to give proper feedback. We
also discuss the lack of extrinsic motivation for PhD-students to improve
their pedagogical skills throughout their education.
