The exercise session attendance is perceived to drop during the course of most courses at LTH. Potential reasons for this are analysed and discussed based on an exemplifying exercise session, along with a supporting literature review. The exemplifying session is a silent room where the students write their name on a blackboard under the word "Help" to request assistance from a teacher. We discuss why students stop attending such classes based on what needs they have in terms of learning curve, trust and motivation, and we present why those elements are beneficial when learning. After the problem is analysed, we propose ways to improve the exercise session, to increase the attendance to the exercises but also to improve the overall learning, by increasing trust and motivation while also accommodating to the students' position in the learning curve. The conclusion is that there is no miracle solution to the problem of low exercise attendance but that there may still be ways to improve.
