Abstract

With understanding the importance of teaching methods/strategies, this study proposes and explores four distinct combinations of teaching strategies in higher education: 1) Problem-Based Teaching (PBT) + practical exercises; 2) seminars + group discussions; 3) peer teaching + practical exercises; and 4) group work + peer teaching. The findings highlight the effectiveness of PBT + practical exercises for active engagement, emphasizing the need for solid communication and moderation skills from instructors. Seminars and group discussions foster self-study, improving discussion and interaction skills, requiring adept facilitation. Peer teaching and practical exercises enhance understanding with proper sequencing and clear teaching goals. Group work and peer teaching promote student initiative and collaborative activities, demanding careful planning. The report acknowledges the diversity of teaching methods, categorizing them based on intended outcomes, teaching contexts, and target student groups. It emphasizes the uniqueness of each combination strategy, influenced by factors such as teacher adaptation, subject matter, course curriculum, and student dynamics. The findings recognize the potential benefits of combination strategies, though the complexity of combining different teaching methods necessitates ongoing exploration and adaptation for successful integration into higher education pedagogy.
