Köer och röstmottagningens kvalitet vid det svenska valet 2022
En studie med fokus på röstmottagarnas erfarenheter från valet
Abstract
Queues and the quality of the process of receiving votes during the 2022 Swedish election: A study focusing on poll workers’ experiences of the election
It was reported that there were long queues of people waiting to vote on the election day in Sweden in 2022. However, there has been no clarification regarding how common the queues were or whether they had a negative effect on the electoral process. We examine how common queues were and whether they had a negative effect on how poll workers experienced the process of receiving votes. We do this by analysing the results of a survey conducted among poll workers in Sweden. The results show that queues were common. For example, more than 7 out of 10 poll workers observed queues outside the polling station several times during the election day. The results also show that the queues had a negative impact on poll workers’ experiences of the process of receiving votes. We conclude by providing several recommendations for reducing the length of queues in upcoming elections in Sweden.
