Information For Authors

Interested in submitting to this journal? Follow these instructions:

1. Manuscripts should be written in a Scandinavian language or in English, German, or French.

2. Manuscripts should preferably be submitted to the journal's editorial office as an email attachment (bo.wendt@nordlund.lu.se), but they can also be sent by regular mail (Department of Languages and Literature, Box 201, SE-221 00 Lund).

3. If a word processing program other than Word is used, the manuscript must be provided both in the standard format of the word processing program and in ASCII format (for PC) or RTF format (for Macintosh).

4. Images and figures should be attached separately as TIFF files rather than being embedded in the document.

5. Each manuscript must include, in English, the article’s title, a short abstract (10–15 lines), and 5–10 keywords.

6. New paragraphs in the text should be indicated by indentation using the tab key, rather than a blank line.

7. Ellipsis points should be used consistently.

8. In citations, even in texts written in English, commas and periods that do not belong to the quoted material should be placed outside the closing quotation mark.

9. References should be given in the running text by stating the author's name and the publication year of the referenced book. Example: Söderberg 1988: 55. Complete references should be listed separately in alphabetical order by the authors’ last names (Icelandic names are alphabetized by first name). For books, include the author's or editor’s surname and initials, publication year, title (italicized), publisher, and place of publication. Example: Jörgens, N. (1987): Studier över syntax och textstruktur i nordiska medeltidslagar, Lund University Press, Lund. For journal articles, include the author's surname and initials, publication year, title (in quotation marks), journal name (italicized), volume, and page numbers. Example: Söderberg, B. (1986): "Formelgods och Eddakronologi". Arkiv för nordisk filologi 101, pp. 50–86. For book chapters or articles in collected volumes, include the author's surname and initials, year, title (in quotation marks), editor’s initials and surname, book title, publisher, place of publication, and pages. Example: Andersson, E. (1985): "Om komparativa bisatser i svenskan".

The editorial board reserves the right to return manuscripts for revision if they do not follow these guidelines. Articles are reviewed by members of the Nordic editorial board (see editorial team) or by other external referees who are experts in the relevant subject area.
