Abstract

This project is dedicated to improving the cosmic muon detection lab experience for students.
The aim of the project is to identify the pedagogical challenges that students face when learning
about cosmic muon detection, and to develop a solution that improves student motivation, curiosity,
and engagement with the lab material. The project utilizes a needs assessment and solution
development approach, which involves conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups to identify
the specific challenges that students face, and developing a tailored solution to address those
challenges. The solution may involve the creation of new instructional materials, the introduction of
new teaching methods, or the integration of new technologies in the lab. The effectiveness of the
solution will be evaluated through surveys, student performance assessments, and other assessment
methods. By improving the teaching approach toward cosmic muon detection, the project
aims to increase student interest in this field and contribute to the advancement of particle physics
education.
