Abstract

Introduction: Focusing on the screen for lectures during undergraduate teaching is challenging for students. This challenge is made steeper by the competition with multiple social media platforms available to the students in a classroom. Previous studies suggest that the constant stimulation provided by digital devices may make it difficult for students to focus for extended periods of time (1,2). Another study found that the attention span of students has decreased over the past decade. Some of the factors causing this outcome were increased use of technology in the classroom and changes in teaching methods, such as the use of more visual aids and multimedia presentations (3).
