This essay aims to provide guidance to teachers in creating and evaluating high-level learning outcomes in biomedical education, utilizing AI language models as a form of active learning. I will describe, by using the SOLO taxonomy as a framework, how teachers can exploit the limitations of these systems to design questions that require critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the students, even when working assisted by AI models. I will also propose a scoring rubric for evaluating student performance when
collaborating with AI language models. Ultimately, this essay aims to facilitate a productive and engaging learning experience for students in the biomedical field, employing the potential of these AI technologies while also promoting a productive learning experience.
