The first semester biomedical program course (LÄKC14) is purely problem-based learning (PBL) with an activity where students have lab-rotation. This activity has not been analysed and improved sufficiently. The purpose of this project is to introduce Project based learning (PjBL) for this activity to increase the motivation, learning and application towards overall aims of the course and degree program. The increased duration and student central approaches of projects have been discussed including gender equality in the groups undertaking a project. The approaches are expected to increase motivation, improve learning of concepts, techniques involved and their applications to real project problems. This project will potentially improve overall learning outcomes of the course and the degree program.
