Experimental models in wound research
(Perspectives on Course Design) 2022-02-22
Abstract
I plan a new course for the students and researchers in the field of inflammation and wound healing. Inflammation research is quite wide spread but wound healing area is specific and limited to few researchers. Both of these fields have many common concepts and research approaches. Wounds represent an important clinical and economic challenge (Nussbaum et al. 2018) and wound research will expand further in near future (Bates. 2020). Therefore, I believe that we can find enough interest from researchers who are starting their career in these fields. This course will also benefit researchers who are in general working with animal models. The course will be a mix of teaching on in vitro and in vivo wound models. Animal models are critical for wound research and it is not easy to model them in simple in vitro experiments due to complexity (Grada et al. 2018).
