The goal with this project is to explore cognitive learning strategies to enrich lecture-based teaching to medical PhD-students within the field cognitive ageing.
PhD students in the medical field sometimes use cognitive concepts in their work without really understanding what they mean. Others may want to investigate cognition but feel that they are lacking knowledge of basic concepts of cognition and how they are best measured. Therefore, it is important to create a lecture for medical Phd-students that describes cognitive concepts and defines common ways of testing cognition that are relevant in gerontology and geriatric medicine and research.
According to Davis & Arend (2013) cognitive learning strategies suit very well for teaching outcomes that involve acquiring knowledge, in particular concepts and the authors suggest incorporating these strategies when applying a lecture-based structure.
