The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 left the world perplexed, affecting many aspects of modern society. Among other things, the situation challenged the education system worldwide and initiated the transition of traditional face-to-face lectures to online-based learning platforms.
The transition to digital teaching had both advantages and disadvantages. As the pandemic continues, the universities predominantly teach online, continuously making improvements to the learning platform.
This paper presents a case study on the transition of in-class courses to the online format of the course GEM002F at Lund University. Based on the interviews conducted between the teachers and the students, this work summarizes problems which may arise in an online teaching platform, emphasizing the effects of Zoom fatigue, microcultures, assessment techniques, and the role of the teacher in designing a successful online course.
