Abstract

The Bank as an Personal Relation My goal is to look for possible changes from a modern to a postmodern production culture and consumption culture. These changes are expressed by engineer Fredriksson, used as a metaphor for modern thought, and bank employees, used as a metaphor for postmodern thought: How do they look upon their work and the company’s activities? The changes in the production culture are illustrated by the company’s new goals: To Fredriksson work was an instrument to change, improve and develop the society. In today’s bankworld work is a question of managing your own life and the company’s success. It is primarily the future of the individual and the company that is in jeopardy, and only secondly the future of the society or the nation. The new consumption culture not only involves the customers’ need for self-realization, it also includes the employees’ relation to their work. The production and consumption seems to fall together in the postmodern company since the work is focused on the individual: How you as an employee meet the customers, co-operate, increase the company’s profits and enrich your own life.
