Bibelresepsjon fra et svensk perspektiv

Abstract

The article introduces this special issue on biblical reception studies from a Swedish perspective. It begins by discussing what biblical reception is and points to the variety of research undertaken on different kinds of reception of the Bible. While demonstrating an intensified interest in biblical reception within the field of biblical studies in recent years – both in Sweden, the Nordic countries, and internationally – it briefly situates research on biblical reception within a longer time frame and broader intellectual context. Opening up for key points raised in the special issue, this introductory article proposes that there is enormous potential for studies in biblical reception, to expand the remit of research within biblical studies through investigations of new and largely unexplored questions, material, and contexts. By way of leading into the more detailed discussions taken up in the special issue, this article outlines the focus of each of the four articles that follow, pointing to their proposals for teaching and research on biblical reception in Sweden and beyond.
