Abstract

In every learning environment there are situations that can decrease the motivation, for
example if the teacher notices that the lecture room is too small for the number of students, it
can be demotivating for him/her to get through the administrative barriers to solve this
problem. On the other hand the administration has to deal with a lot of demands from the
teachers and students, and can usually not satisfy all of them due to budget constraints. The
budget is provided by the government, which needs to see an improvement in the students’
abilities to justify the spending, and therefore commissions studies like PISA mentioned
above. Within this project work we will study how these interactions concerning motivation
occur in university environment (student, teacher, administration and society) and try to
motivate you as a reader to avoid demotivational behaviour in the future. To get into the
mood, we will start out with some theory.
